Elysian Fields - KXCI 91.3 FM Personally, I am glad that the artist chose not to hold back on this piece. Far from being melodramatic, it is a powerful composition worthy of multiple listens. Favorite track: Cast Your Net Over A Torn Earth (Original).

about

Cast Your Net Over A Torn Earth, the new single from Reid Willis, taken from forthcoming album, Sediment. Typified as the most urgent song on the album, it’s a cinematic saga that evolves within different chapters and moments throughout its seven minute span. The title and emotiveness enshrouding this track provides the listener a sense of trying to hold something together that is falling apart, and a self-confession from the artist, that it arose from dealing and grappling with notions of overwhelm.

“I honestly had slightly torn feelings on this track after I'd written it, as I almost felt it was a bit melodramatic for the album, but that feeling is kind of reflected in the song itself, so I ultimately thought it fit in. The album kind of needed a big climactic centerpiece that just went all in with the drama.”

Following ‘Mother Of’, Reid Willis’s previous album released on Mesh, ‘Sediment’ is yet another conceptually powerful collection of songs. It is an intricate impression of changing states – of decaying and eroding matter that overtime is not lost, but changed into something new: sediment. Willis thoughtfully illustrates this idea of symbiosis and metamorphosis by creating a narrative that runs through the album. Each track speaks to, and leaks into the next, creating not just an album but making an LP into a singular entity.
